St Austell v St Just: Wheal Eliza Ground

Saturday 29th April 2023

Cornwall Cricket League Premier Division: T20 Competition

St Austell 110 All Out: 19.4 Overs St Just 115-2: 14.4 Overs

Start time: 12pm

Weather: Predominantly overcast turning to light cloud, slight chill.

Attendance: 20 to 30 catchment.

Match rating : 6/10 St Just bowled well and were impressive with the bat.

Provisions: Cheese salad brown roll, crisps (ex home).

Bring Your Own Chair necessity: Yes. Benches outside pavilion are for players. Spotted 2 other benches only. Small row of single plank rustic seating beside one of the sights screens.

View of the action: Very good indeed, ample sections of the ground are banked above the pitch, particularly on the pavilion side.

General facilities: Well kept clubhouse with spotless toilets and attractive bar. There was a barbecue set up beside the pavilion but not activated during the time I was there (I only stayed for the first of the two T20 games). Unsure if it was for the players or available to the public.

Lets get to the snaps of the Wheal Eliza ground & some of the action

Its Back!

The lingering wet weather more or less decimated the opening couple of weeks of the new Cornwall Cricket season.

Great to witness most games going ahead this Saturday. All manner of stuff was on offer, the Premier League T20 tournament, County Division & most of the respective leagues below managed to get the overs in.

Can we finally rejoice that Cornwall Cricket is back? Certainly hope so.
