Cornwall League County Division 1
Delayed Start: 35 Overs (Damp spots around edge of the square)
Lanhydrock 125 All Out: 34 Overs
Redruth Seconds 140-6: 35 Overs *Batted 1st
Start Time: 2.30pm
Weather: A wet week finally yielded and we got a dry if not rather grey afternoon. Odd sunny spell and a little warmer of late. No need for a coat, just the usual 4 layers underneath.
Attendance: Rough head count around the 25 mark. The bar received decent trade.
Match Rating: Bit unfair to hazard one. I only had time to catch the Redruth innings. Their mix of younger players and experienced heads provided a steady start which was complimented by more robust batting mid period onwards. Lanhydrock presented some accurate pace bowling early doors and had the benefit of an experienced spin profile to add to the attack. Decent quality cricket all around.
Provisions: None today. Catered for by lunch at home beforehand.
Bring Your Own Chair Necessity? Yes. The Pavilion offers benches but the rest of this lovely ground has no seating. There are so many nice spots to plonk your chair down, I'd say bringing along your own chair will definitely add to the enjoyment.
General Facilities and Viewing: This really is a glorious ground for club cricket. Nestled sedately in the abundant tree lined majesty of the National Trust Estate, Lanhydrock CC truly have a jewel of a location. There is a characterful Pavilion with a smart little bar area, a quaint basic scoreboard next to the Scorers hatch (I heard a rumour they may be going Digital soon) and good quality toilet facilities at the rear of the building. It looks like improvement work is taking place behind the Pavilion but I am unsure of the purpose. There is ample space to park within the confines of the ground, either beside the pavilion or pitch side. Be cautious of the National Trust car park nearby, its free if you're a NT member but be sure to get a ticket from the machine, its 6 quid for all day parking if you're not an NT member (best to park in the Cricket Ground).
